Etymology[edit]
From صاغر (sağır, “deaf”) + ـلانمق (-lanmak, suffix forming passive infinitives from stems ending in back vowels).

صاغرلانمق • (sağırlanmak)
- (intransitive) to grow deaf, to become unable or only partially able to hear
- (intransitive, of sounds) to grow dull, indistinct, muffled, stifled, or nasal
