Etymology[edit]
From كوف (küf, “mold, mildew”) + ـلنمك (-lenmek, suffix forming passive infinitives from stems ending in front vowels).

كوفلنمك • (küflenmek)
- (intransitive) to grow moldy, to become covered with mold
- (intransitive, figuratively) to suffer from long neglect or trouble
