Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Paisaci Prakrit [Term?] (compare Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀙𑀟𑁆𑀟𑀤𑀺 (chaḍḍadi)), from Sanskrit छर्दति (chardati).

چھَڈّݨا • (chaḍḍṇā) (transitive, Gurmukhi spelling ਛੱਡਣਾ)
- to let go
- میرے دوپٹّے نُوں چَھڈّ! ― mere dopṭṭe nūṉ chaḍḍ! ― Let go off my scarf!
- to leave, quit
- کَمّ نُوں چَھڈّݨا ― kamm nūṉ chaḍḍṇā ― to quit (your) job
- to give up, leave
- آپݨے آل اَوْلاد نُوں کَدی نا چَھڈِّیں ― āpṇe āl aulād nūṉ kadī nā chaḍḍiīṉ ― Don't ever give up your kids
