From ܐܪܒܥܐ (ʾarb(ə)ʿā(ʾ), four, fourth) + ܒ- (b(ə)-, in) + ܫܒܐ (šabbā(ʾ)), absolute singular form of ܫܒܬܐ (šabb(ə)ṯā(ʾ), Saturday, week). Compare Arabic الأرْبَعَاء (al-ʾarbaʿāʾ) and Hebrew יוֹם רְבִיעִי (yôm rəḇîʿî).
