Etymology[edit]
From Aramaic חַמוּצָא (ḥamuṣā); cognate to Hebrew חָמוּץ (khamútz) and Arabic حَامِض (ḥāmiḍ). Doublet of ܚܲܡܝܼܥܵܐ (ḥamīˁā, “leavened”).
