Borrowed from Classical Persian زنبورک (zanburak), from زنبور (zanbur, “wasp”) + ـک (-ak, diminutive suffix), from Arabic زَنْبُور (zanbūr), an alternative pronunciation of Modern Standard Arabic زُنْبُور (zunbūr, “hornet”), ultimately from Aramaic זבּור (zibbūr, “hornet”).
