From Proto-Indo-Iranian *pančaHćát (fifty), from Proto-Indo-European *penkʷeh₁dḱḿ̥t (fifty). Cognate with Avestan 𐬞𐬀𐬧𐬗𐬁𐬯𐬀𐬙 (paṇcāsat, fifty), Ancient Greek πεντήκοντα (pentḗkonta, fifty), Latin quīnquāgintā (fifty).
