Etymology

Borrowed from Classical Persian حقارت, from Arabic حقارة (ḥaqāra(t), “disgrace, lowliness”), noun form of حقر (ḥaqara, “to disdain, belittle”). Compare Hindustani حقارت / हक़ारत (haqārat).
