セロファン (serofan): printed and transparent cellophane wrappers.

Etymology[edit]

Borrowing from French cellophane.[1]

Pronunciation[edit]

Noun[edit]

セロファン (romaji serofan)

  1. cellophane

Alternative forms[edit]

Usage notes[edit]

The serofan form appears to be slowly replacing the older セロハン (serohan) form, perhaps in reflection of growing acceptance and familiarity of the fa phoneme, which only appears in borrowed words.
