药材 (simplified, Pinyin yàocái, traditional 藥材)

  1. Medicinal materials or materia medica in traditional Chinese medicine. This includes herbs, minerals and other materials that are not plant-based. Most medicinal materials are dried herbs. Some medicinal materials have been "prepared" in a number of ways, including being fried in honey, salt, alcohol or vinegar. Other common methods of "preparation" include calcination, carbonization, and fermentation.
