  1. (adjective-forming suffix) Added to a noun to form an adjective.
    ‎во̄й (wōj, “fat”) + ‎-ыӈ (-yň) → ‎во̄иӈ (wōiň, “fatty”)
    ‎а̄гм (āgm, “disease”) + ‎-ыӈ (-yň) → ‎а̄гмыӈ (āgmyň, “sick”)
    ‎во̄т (wōt, “wind”) + ‎-ыӈ (-yň) → ‎во̄тыӈ (wōtyň, “windy”)

Usage notes[edit]

  • -ыӈ if the previous letter is a consonant but not й
  • -ӈ if the previous letter is a vowel
  • -иӈ if the previous letter is й, which assimilates to the и
