Etymology[edit]

From -ով (-ov), which coincides with the ending of instrumental, +‎ -ին (-in) suffix. Alternatively, -ին (-in) may reflect the -i- in Proto-Indo-European *-bʰi followed by a demonstrative element from Proto-Indo-European *-nós > (-n). Compare -եւին (-ewin).
