Etymology[edit]

Probably from Latin -icus and Ancient Greek -ικός (-ikós) under influence of -cký, a variant of -ský. Some uses can be analyzed as -ika + -cký. Cognates include French -ique, English -ical, Italian -ico and Spanish -ico.
