Dutch[edit]

Etymology[edit]

First attested as ackrom in 1315. Borrowed from West Frisian Akkrum, of unknown etymology. Potentially derived from Old Frisian ake (fish weir). Various proposed compounds of a personal name or oikonym and hēm (home, settlement) do not match the oldest attestations of the toponym.

  • IPA(key): /ˈɑ.krʏm/
  • Hyphenation: Ak‧krum

Proper noun[edit]
