Etymology[edit]

Middle Persian [Term?], from the Aramaic variant of the name of the Arabs, which, along with various other ethnic groups, constituted the population of the province. Compare Classical Syriac ܒܝܬ ܥܪܒܝܐ (Bêṯ ʿArəḇāyē) and Old Armenian Արուաստան (Aruastan).
