Dutch[edit]
Etymology[edit]
First attested as Bavinkel in 1830-1855. Potentially derived from a compound of Old Dutch Bavo (“a personal name”) suffixed with the collectivising suffix -ing- and lo (“light forest”). The toponym is difficult to interpret due to a paucity of old attestations.
