Dutch[edit]

Etymology[edit]

First attested as Bavinkel in 1830-1855. Potentially derived from a compound of Old Dutch Bavo (a personal name) suffixed with the collectivising suffix -ing- and lo (light forest). The toponym is difficult to interpret due to a paucity of old attestations.

Pronunciation[edit]

Proper noun[edit]

Bavinkel n

  1. A hamlet in Almelo, Overijssel, Netherlands.
