Named after Old Norse Bombur, a dwarf in Norse mythology.

Etymology 2[edit]

Named by Leigh Van Valen after the character Bombur in Tolkien's legendarium, named in turn after the dwarf in Norse mythology. The genus was renamed due to the wasp having been named first.
