Missing cateogry

Notifying @Benwing2, Erutuon, Vahagn Petrosyan. The language-specific Category:Greek direct borrowings (suggested title), is missing and needed. These are the non‑learned, acoustic, oral, speaker-to-speaker loanwords. Equivalent to el:Κατηγορία:Δάνεια (νέα ελληνικά). Thank you in advance. ‑‑Sarri.greek ^♫ I 12:09, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

@Sarri.greek: if I understand you correctly, you don't want the members of Category:Greek learned borrowings from German to appear in Category:Greek terms borrowed from German. But there is nothing special about Greek in this respect. If we are going to change the categorization, we should do it for all languages. Vahag (talk) 23:36, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

Thank you @Vahagn Petrosyan for your response, and for stating this. But i observe -and I wonder why- that the best English dictionaries, never make a distinction of learned and non-learned borrowings. It seems that lexicographic traditions differ from lang to lang. I keep returning to this matter, because it is impossible to transfer precisely the information given in greek dictionaries to en.wikt. I only correct etymologies which are already written, and I never add new ones, so, I will not bother en.wikt any further with this matter. There are specialized etymologists in this project, who are much better equipped to judge what is needed or not. ‑‑Sarri.greek ^♫ I 05:57, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

The English and other northern barbarians with their new languages don't have a diglossia like you and me. They are not accustomed to distinguishing the learned from the vernacular. Vahag (talk) 14:16, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
