Alternative forms[edit]
Etymology[edit]
An alternative form of Dedë. Derived from Dedalij,[1] the name of a figure in Albanian mythology. Described as being very tall, mighty and a giant (similarities with Gigas, Gigantes and Titans in Greek mythology).
Probably related or a cognate to Albanian tëtanë (“all, people, total”); which derived from Proto-Indo-European *tewtéh₂ (“people, tribe”).
Pronunciation[edit]
Proper noun[edit]
Dodë f (plural Dodë, definite Doda, definite plural Dodët)
- a male given name
- indefinite form of Doda
Declension[edit]
- Note that Dodë is a male given name but the ending forms of this declension are of feminine gender.
- The final -ë (Schwa) in the nominative/accusative singular/plural forms of Dodë can be dropped, resulting in Dod (common among Gheg dialects).
