English [edit]

Noun [edit]

Gallegan (plural Gallegans)

  1. Galician, a citizen of Galicia.

Usage notes [edit]

  • Galicians consider the term Gallegan much less preferable and correct than "Galician" because it is a second-hand translation based on the Spanish gallego.

Proper noun [edit]

Gallegan

  1. The Galician language spoken in Galicia. Although this language sounds like a mixture of Spanish and Portuguese, it is an independent language that evolved directly from Latin.
Use of Gallegan and Galicia in "The Bible in Spain by George Borrow" (1842) [1].
