Plurals in -al

Some nouns are incorrectly given the plural -aux, instead of -als. For example, festival and rorqual had this problem before I fixed them. There will be many more, I imagine. --Type56op9 (talk) 15:05, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

splitdash=1

@PUC When I originally implemented autosplitting, I made it so that it doesn't auto-split hyphenated words in a multiword expression (i.e. when the lemma has spaces in it) unless you use |splitdash=1, because there are words like dix-neuf that shouldn't be split. It will still split on hyphens if there aren't spaces in the lemma, e.g. the lemma dix-neuf by itself. If you'd rather, we can change this behavior and make it auto-split hyphenated words by default, and have a param like |nosplitdash=1 to turn it off. (Maybe |splithyphen=/|nosplithyphen= would be better names?) Benwing2 (talk) 20:52, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

nouns/adjectives in -eu

@PUC Currently the default plural algorithm of nouns and adjectives is different. I am planning on harmonizing them so they're the same, and one area of contention is plurals of words in -eu. Currently the default plural of -eu terms is -s for adjectives but -x for nouns. Indeed, all -eu adjectives except hebreu pluralize in -s but the majority of -eu nouns pluralize in -x. However, there are a significant number of -eu nouns pluralizing in -s (including all verlan nouns and other recently coined nouns), and perhaps due to the possibility of confusion, most nouns in -eu specify the plural explicitly whether -s or -x. I am going to change the default plural to be -s, and specify the plural explicitly for nouns with plural in -x so nothing ends up wrong. Hope this is OK. BTW the default plural rule will be as follows once I make this change:

1. If the term ends in -s, -x or -z, the plural is the same.
2. If the term ends in -au (including -eau), the plural adds -x.
3. If the term ends in -al, the plural becomes -aux.
4. In all other cases, the plural adds -s.
