Errors

[edit]

@AryamanA, could you add the functionality for these parameters. —*i̯óh₁n̥C[5] 11:20, 18 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

@JohnC5: I was hoping to clean the entries up themselves, but since I don't have time I guess I'll just add the parameters. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 16:51, 18 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Clean up

[edit]

@Atitarev, AryamanA I cleaned up this module, added support for verbs and added more error-checking. This caught some invalid genders; there are three pages in CAT:E that invalidly use gender n. Can one of you two correct this? Benwing2 (talk) 00:34, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Benwing2: Great! Fixed them all. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 00:39, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Indeclinable adjectives

[edit]

@Atitarev, AryamanA You can now use |ind=1 on {{hi-adj}} to indicate an indeclinable adjective. I'm going to do a bot run to add this on all adjectives where it can be done automatically, but we should fix the remaining ones manually. What I can do after adding |ind=1 automatically is add {{rfinfl}} on the remaining adjectives without a declension table, so we then can either add the table or add |ind=1 to the headword. Benwing2 (talk) 05:45, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

BTW As part of my cleanup work I extended ur=, ur2= so it also supports ur3=, ur4=, etc. A question: do any lemmas require multiple heads or translits? Currently there's no support for this but it's easy to add. Benwing2 (talk) 05:46, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2, AryamanA: Optional shwa, definitely exist (I lost that discussion), so do multiple possible pronunciations/transliterations. BTW, nuqta'ed/nuqtaless handling seems incomplete, ज़रूरी (zarūrī) can be both "zarūrī" and "jarūrī", not unlike ग़रीब (ġarīb), which is both "ġarīb" and "garīb". The frequency and perceived correctness may be very different, though. कोफ़ी (kofī) might enjoy multiple readings, no? (kāfī, kŏfī, kŏphī, etc.). --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 05:55, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2, AryamanA: @Benwing2, Please add as an option. We can discuss if particular examples qualify. @AryamanA, do you agree nuqta'ed/nuqtaless reading need a bit of expansion, where it's missing, e.g. f/ph, j/z? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 05:58, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2, Atitarev: I don't think we should provide alt transliteration for non-nuqta in the headword, the current system of altform pages seems good. And yeah, our coverage of those is not great but I imagine we can do a bot run for those. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 18:43, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2 Some adjectives (ताज़ा (tāzā)) can be both indeclinable or not. How should those be treated? —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 20:24, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@AryamanA, Atitarev I will implement maybe |optind=1 to indicate optionally indeclinable, and in that case we can put a declension as well. Benwing2 (talk) 08:24, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Tracking some characters

[edit]

@Benwing2, AryamanA: Can Category:Hindi terms spelled with ः be generated automatically, if not already? @AryamanA, what other characters should be tracked, ङ, ञ, ॠ, ऌ, ॡ? Some rare characters, seldom used in Hindi or not supposed to be used? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 06:39, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Benwing2, Atitarev: I think there is some way to do so, but I do not recall how, I will try to do it. And I agree, that is a good set of characters. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 18:41, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2, AryamanA: Thanks. @Benwing2 will be able to add tracking, just need a list of characters to track I think. Maybe full Devanagari list of characters minus what is valid in Hindi? Is it this module: Module:Rare letters? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 23:17, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2, Atitarev: I got it to work! Apparently it's in MOD:languages/data2, under the "standardchars" field. I think I got the right set of letters; I also added nuqta-letters to be tracked, what do you think about that? —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 00:40, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hindi multiword terms category

[edit]

@Benwing2, AryamanA: Hi. Could we please have Category:Hindi multiword terms category? @AryamanA, I find this type of category beneficial to check for possible SoP's or find specific inflections, in any case, it requires some attention. Already implemented for a few languages by @Benwing2. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 23:47, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Atitarev, Benwing2: Great idea, thanks for adding it! —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 02:30, 2 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
