From Arabic القُرْآن (al-qurʾān), definite form of قُرْآن (qurʾān, act of reciting), verbal noun of قَرَأَ (qaraʾa, to recite; to read (aloud)). Compare Classical Syriac ܩܪܝܢܐ (qeryānā, reading; scripture).
