Etymology[edit]

Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₂yéwHō. Possibly a back-formation of Sanskrit युवानक (yuvānaka) or a semi-learned borrowing from Sanskrit युवन् (yúvan), with influence from युवानम् (yúvānam) or युवानः (yúvānaḥ). Compare Pali yuvāna.
