Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Proto-Norse *ᛃᛖᚢᛚᚢ (*jeulu), from Proto-Germanic *jehwlą, with a substitution *je-*jo-, as Proto-Finnic didn't allow word-initial *je-. Doublet of *juhla.
