Etymology[edit]
From unattested *dugunþaz (“productive, useful, strong”) + *-ō, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰéwgʰ-ont-s ~ *dʰugʰ-n̥t-és, from *dʰewgʰ- (“to be productive, useful; to be strong”) + *-onts.[1]
