sarri.greek. 2017.10.18. σοφός is both ancient and modern greek. The modern greek adjective is: masc:σοφός, fem:σοφή. neu:σοφό. Would it be possible to add the modern version too? sarri.greek (talk) 05:25, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Sarri.greek: άρχισα τη δουλειά, αλλά αύξηση χρειάζεται :-) --Barytonesis (talk) 20:39, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
->to Bary from sarri: Σοφον: χρειαζεστε αυξηση. Your work is fine. I like it when gre.anc and gre.modern are in the same page. Easy to compare. Hate it when they are in different pages just because of a diacritic. Of course, the lang.name Greek includes both: Ancient greek and Modern greek and everything in between. In Wiktionary they write 'greek' for gre.mod. only?! In my archives I use gre (for both), grec (greAnc) and grel (greMod - I need el to start with gr for indexing purposes). Just remembered: also: σοφος is also used as a noun = sage. P.S. There's a bug and all my accents come double as in σοφ΄΄ον. Have to buy a new computer. sarri.greek (talk) 17:38, 20 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarri.greek: ευχαριστώ για την απάντηση· το ουσιαστικό πρόσθεσα. ναι, "Greek" εδώ σημαίνει νέα ελληνικά μόνο. --Barytonesis (talk) 17:40, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sísuphos[edit]

Unknown. If related to Σίσυφος (Sísuphos),..

This might not be helpful for your work, but I want to tell you, that above idea made my day!

What a wonderful thought, that the stone, which Sisuphus is rolling uphill again and again, is nothing but sophos itself. And whenever a once believed "knowledge" gets falsified, it rolls downhill again.

However, the description of Sisuphos during his (mythical) lifetime qualifies hardly as "sophos" in todays understanding as "wise", but at the other hand it very well qualifies as cunning and clever. Thus the proposed relation kind of implies that a cunning person could also become in the (in this case deadly) end a wise person.

Big thanks to you from a bloody laymen. 84.191.84.194 09:29, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
