Техас#Romanian as a translation of Texas

Well it's definitely wrong, because Romanian doesn't use Cyrillic. I'll change it to the Latin form, which is what we want to be trying to verify. Theknightwho (talk) 14:43, 13 June 2022 (UTC)

The word is in Cyrillic script, so maybe it's Moldovan? Also, с in Cyrillic is equivalent to s in Latin script, so this is just the Cyrillic equivalent of "Texas", not "Texac". But there are no hits for "Техасул" anyway. 98.170.164.88 14:43, 13 June 2022 (UTC)

The expected form, based on Romanian Texas, would be either Тексас or Текзас, using the substitutions described here. Техас (= Tehas) is the form used in Russian though, reflecting the original Spanish pronunciation, and Moldovan has had more influence from Russian. So you can make up a hypothetical story where it's possible.

In reality, though, I was not able to find any hits in Romanian/Moldovan for any of these three potential Cyrillic spellings, either on Google or Twitter. I think it's far more likely that whoever added it made a mistake than that they found some rare Moldovan source discussing Texas in Cyrillic Romanian using the Russian name. 98.170.164.88 15:31, 13 June 2022 (UTC)

This must be a mistake - the Romanian word for Texas is Texas. I think the original contributor just happened to copy the Russian word. Robbie SWE (talk) 17:52, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
