(Notifying Atitarev, Cinemantique, Useigor, Wikitiki89, Stephen G. Brown, Guldrelokk, Fay Freak, Tetromino, Per utramque cavernam): Here's another case of unexpected poetic stress, with хо́лмах. I don't think we should replace the quote from Pushkin just for this reason; instead I added a note using footer= to indicate that the stress is intentional. I'll also add a note to холм (xolm) about this stress; it's documented here [1] which says в поэтич. речи встречается на хо́лмах, and also presumably here [2], which appears to indicate that accent-a stress is устар., although it's hard to tell for sure because the original accentuation isn't properly reproduced on the website. @Benwing2: Okay. It is the Church Slavonic stress, cf. the Elizabeth Bible 1 2 etc. Pushkin used it this way, judging from Ushakov: note the rhyme присмирев ~ ре́в, the word брег. It must have been extracted specifically from the locative plural (на) хо́лмѣхъ, on which see Stang’s Slavonic accentuation 71. Guldrelokk (talk) 23:50, 17 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
