@Fay Freak {{R:ar:Schönig|page=293}} has Arabic muʻaṣfar, ʻaṣfur as synonyms for ʿuṣfur. Can you add those to عُصْفُر (ʕuṣfur)? They explain the borrowings better. --Vahag (talk) 18:16, 15 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Vahagn Petrosyan: ʿaṣfur is just the pronunciation more close to the dialects; we wouldn’t add it as a synonym but as head2 alternative vocalization, but this is considered low language and the Saudi IP would remove it with all right; it is a common and regular phenomenon of colloquial speech to lower CuCCVC to CaCCVC (although the literary language also over-classicizes what always had this form in the dialects, see Talk:بطيخ). muʻaṣfar I added, but only on the authority of Schönig, who quotes herself in Footnote 5 that it is a “sehr spärliches belegtes Wort”.
