"earlier"

[edit]

What is the language implied when saying "From earlier *թումբուկ ‎(*tʿumbuk)"? In the future, please give the name of the language that is "earlier." 173.89.236.187 19:25, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Earlier Old Armenian, obviously. It is the usual practice not to repeat the language name if one talks about the same language. --Vahag (talk) 20:34, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Whatever the convention, it doesn't make sense to anyone to say "earlier" without clarifying, for example "earlier spelling" "archaic Old Armenian," etc. Whatever it takes to make things completely clear for our users. 173.89.236.187 04:54, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Old Armenian same as Armenian?

[edit]

Is the Old Armenian form exactly the same in spelling and pronunciation as the Armenian form? 173.89.236.187 04:54, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

The spelling, yes. The pronunciation was probably similar to the modern Eastern Armenian pronunciation. --Vahag (talk) 08:52, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
