@Qehath: Hello. I'm trying to gather all the vulgar translations at blowjob, and all the "standard" ones at fellatio. This one is at both; which one should it be? --Per utramque cavernam 10:26, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

You seem to be functioning under the incorrect assumption that each language has vulgar and nonvulgar versions of things like this. Or that informal versions are all vulgar. As far as I can tell מציצה is a not-especially vulgar colloquialism with no specific formal equivalent. — [ זכריה קהת ] Zack. 12:22, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Qehath: Yes, the split is somewhat artificial and won't work for all languages (Armenian too seems to have no formal equivalent of մինետ). So if מציצה is register-neutral, I guess we can leave it in both tables. Still, having French pipe as a translation of fellation or French fellation as a translation of blowjob strikes me as wrong.
And yes, I meant "vulgar or colloquial or informal", which is what I've written above the table at blowjob. --Per utramque cavernam 12:35, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
It's not exactly register-neutral, the problem is it's perceived in different ways in different contexts. --WikiTiki89 14:06, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I feel like a lot of words are like that. Is it really a "problem" then? I mean, this is a word that describes a thing that we don't generally talk about in public. Hebrew doesn't desire the dead, clinical words more Latin-influenced languages do, so it seems natural that this more-or-less neutral word takes on different vibes when used in different ways. — [ זכריה קהת ] Zack. 15:34, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
By "problem" I just mean it's tricky to describe with a short label. Yet I do think we need some sort of label. --WikiTiki89 15:37, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Maybe a brief usage note would work better. — [ זכריה קהת ] Zack. 20:07, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
The situation with the Russian мине́т (minét) is similar, IMO. The topic may be "vulgar" but not the word. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 23:00, 16 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
