etymology[edit]

Well, it looked to me like Persian داغ and Sanskrit दाह (source for দাহ) are at least very close to doublets, but I can't say I'm sure, so you can leave that as it is.

With Persian loans I like to give an idea of what the 'next step' is etymologically: does it come from Arabic? is it Indo-Aryan? or maybe from Turkic? So I agree that giving both a Sanskrit cognate and the Indo-European origin is not needed, but giving one of them, or giving Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰáǰʰati, can be really helpful in my opinion, because now there are four related terms, but from the etymology you can't really see what the connection is. About the possible doublet: Platts gives "P داغ dāg̠ [Zend dagha, fr. daz; S. दाह" Exarchus (talk) 10:02, 3 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
