- @Justinrleung: Sure. Khmer and Thai (and Lao) share a large number of loan words. It’s a cognate with Thai คราม (kraam), copied from there. @Octahedron80, can you confirm, pls? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 08:09, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
- In my opinion, it should be derived from Old Chinese rather than PT or PSWT since *ɡ doesn't occur. I didn't ever add Khmer in cognates. Proto-Austronesian *taRum (> Malay tarum) is nearer than Tai's lineage, but one preblem is that Old Khmer doesn't have the word; I cannot check how old it is.
