@Fytcha: Aha, thank you! I noticed a while back that someone was adding y= with no argument value, which struck me as strange... I'll check the page history of a couple of those instances and ping whomever it was doing that, try to find out what their intent was. @Eirikr: I've cleaned up some of them. I saw that you had removed one of this person's pitch accent quotations (diff) so I'm assuming these are not reliable either? I've checked them all in Daijirin but I don't have the other references, so I couldn't verify the following: ヒット, フル, テラ, リュック. Also, for ソード, I didn't find anything in the Daijirin (which is the source given for the pitch accent) but that may just be my Qolibri acting up, not sure. Lastly, ガイア is found in the Daijirin but doesn't have a pitch accent number associated with it for me. — Fytcha〈 T | L | C 〉 00:45, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

@Fytcha: Re: pitch, a few anon editors over the years have developed a nasty habit of adding things like acc_ref=DJR when there is no such entry in Daijirin -- I think they're just copy-pasting, if I'm being generous -- one editor at least was probably deliberately lying to try to add a veneer of respectability.

Re: ソード (sōdo) specifically, I've checked a couple editions of Daijirin, and it's not in there, so I'm'a yank that from the entry. It might well be pitch accent 1; a lot of English borrowings like this are. But without a source, and without any clear memory in my own head of a Japanese person saying this word with a clear first-mora accent, I'm happier removing the pitch. By way of comparison, I see that the SMK5 lists pitch patterns 0 and 1 for almost-homophone ソート (sōto). ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │^{Tala við mig} 22:16, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
