"Alternative spellings"[edit]

Not clear to me why we have the pinyinizations as "alternative spellings" when they are already listed in the pronunciation secton. Brian Tvedt 01:23, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Because pinyin is not strictly a pronunciation system, but merely a way of spelling (or "romanising") Chinese characters. Tooironic 14:45, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
