Looking at two dictionaries (1 2), I think it's supposed to be of an animal, especially of a bird. --ItMarki (talk) 12:14, 25 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Languageseeker, ItMarki: It's a pretty general onomatopoeia used in different compounds to represent different sounds. I expanded the entry and removed the template, but the term is pretty broad so I'm not sure if the entry should be formatted differently from how I wrote. Anyway, it can indeed be the sound of a bird (as in 咕咕), but it can also be "gulp gulp" (as in 咕嘟 咕嘟), or a rumbling vehicle (as in 咕嚕), etc. ChromeGames923 (talk) 01:04, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
