The page currently says that both zuǐbā and zuǐba are standard in Taiwan, but this is impossible: either one pronounciation is the stamdard and the other the variant or both are variants. Please verify and correct.

The only official government standards for pronunciation of Chinese characters in Mandarin are the Mainland Shenyinbiao and Taiwan's lists. It is my opinion that if a pronunciation is not seen in those lists, then it doesn't meet the threshold of 'standard' (to me). The Putonghua Proficiency Test directly uses Xiandai Hanyu Cidian as its standard, but Xiandai Hanyu Cidian is not an official standard on the level of the Shenyinbiao and it has some divergences from the Shenyinbiao (there was enough of a difference to cause people to write Xiandai Hanyu Guifan Cidian, a near carbon copy of Xiandai Hanyu Cidian with some tweaks). --Geographyinitiative (talk) 10:09, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

@Geographyinitiative: Perhaps we need a page that lays out what we mean by "standard" and links the word "standard" to it. Also, standards are difficult to determine. As I've mentioned before, dictionaries (詞典) can be used as secondary standards since the highest standards (普通话异读词审音表 and 國語一字多音審訂表) only govern standards at the character level.
