Hey Carl, I think {{gl|in a dictionary}} is not very appropriate. "Gloss" defines a sense but here (in a dictionary) is only a clarification of a sense, e.g.

  1. ship (vessel) - OK
  2. hand (of a clock) - not OK

Do you agree? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 00:43, 14 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I think the definition should only include words that define the word itself, and any explanatory content should go in the gloss. But I'm probably wrong. ---> Tooironic (talk) 01:08, 14 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Tooironic: No, not necessarily wrong but putting something in brackets is just an example of possible sense clarifications, e.g. "page (of book)" makes it clear that this is not a "serving boy" (page) but a "piece of paper" (page) can apply to note books, etc. --Anatoli T.
