Source[edit]

@Mar vin kaiser Did you have a source for Hakka and Wu? RcAlex36 (talk) 07:00, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@RcAlex36: For the Meixian one, I think from syndict, feel free to remove if you feel it's unreliable. For the Taiwanese Hakka one, I can see it in Hakka Wikipedia (as in the Wikipedia written in Hakka). The editor I feel like is a Taiwanese Hakka person, so I guess his creation of that entry would be reliable? For the Wu one, to be honest, I think I derived that pronunciation, but for Shanghainese though, based on how I understand Shanghainese works, isn't that the only possible pronunciation of 青海? I feel like for Shanghainese, it's quite safe to derive the pronunciation. What do you think? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 10:45, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Mar vin kaiser: I think the fact that there is only one possible theoretical pronunciation is not enough grounds for inference. RcAlex36 (talk) 11:40, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@RcAlex36: I see...could you explain a bit why you think that way? Thanks. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 12:46, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Mar vin kaiser: We just don't want to make things up if we're not native speakers. While it's almost certainly right, we can't know for sure. Place names can be especially weird, so it's safer not to infer pronunciations ever. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 19:52, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
