FWOTD cite[edit]

@Cnilep Would you be able to provide a quote for the Japanese word? The current quotation does not seem very useful. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 09:42, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

4th Japanese definition[edit]

@Cnilep, Eirikr The fourth definition goes: "(music) bridge (piece on string instruments)" Are we missing a sense at bridge or should this definition be improved? ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 19:38, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Lingo Bingo Dingo, what about bridge, sense 2.2? → "(music, lutherie) The piece, on string instruments, that supports the strings from the sounding board." ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 04:09, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Lingo Bingo Dingo, Eirikr: As I understand it, that is the relevant sense. Cnilep (talk) 05:47, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I see. The gloss does not do a good job of unambiguously glossing the meaning, but the English definition is at least clear. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 20:02, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Lingo Bingo Dingo: Ah, now I think I see where you're coming from. I just updated the 駒#Japanese:_musical_instrument sense line; does that work better? ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 23:01, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is much clearer. It cannot be mistaken for an 'abstract' creative work now. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 20:11, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
