Irregular verbs and adjectives[edit]

@Wyang Thank you and sorry for making you correct my edit again :). I still don't have enough info on irregular verbs and adjectives - only bits and pieces. I probably need to get a grammar reference book. Could you recommend something? Is there a good resource on this? Do you think Dongsa Korean verb conjugator is reliable? (It seems to also work for adjectives). --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 00:22, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That link is pretty reliable. "Korean: A Comprehensive Grammar" and "Korean: An Essential Grammar" are good ones to start with; there are also many websites which are dedicated to teaching Korean (mainly associated with the k-pop frenzy), for example the Korean Wiki Project. Not a lot needs to be remembered in terms of the Korean templates here - just check that the major stems agree with the ones given in Daum or Naver! Wyang (talk) 00:34, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Could you explain what you mean by Daum and Naver. I'm now using Naver a lot but where is the stem info in Naver? Could you give an example, please? Another problem for me (must be for all beginners in Korean), I can't find enough info on verb infixes/suffixes but I'm getting there. Korean seems to have much more inflection than Japanese. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 00:38, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
For this word, Naver has [1], and [2] if you click on the word. The stems are given in "활용 : 그래, 그러니, 그렇소" in the second link. Daum has [3], which gives the stems in "변화 : [ㅎ불규칙] <그래, 그러니>". Whether the verb/adjective is irregular is also described in Daum, in this case ㅎ불규칙 (h-irregular). Daum has a fairly good coverage of the verbal/adjectival endings, suffixes and prefixes, although some important ones are not covered. More exposure is the best way of developing the familiarity. Thank you, I'll explore this. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 00:58, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Are there a lot of basic irregular verbs/adjectives (excluding derivations, compound terms)? Perhaps they should be done first? I reckon they should also be categorised by Module:ko-conj? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 01:44, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not a lot are irregular when I had a look at the verb list. Most of them should be in [4] (note that some of the verbs there don't require a |irreg=y parameter, since the module is smarter). I agree - the module has to be made more helpful and lively. Wyang (talk) 02:00, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
