'rare'[edit]

Vis-a-vis Matsu, Lienchiang is rare, I would even say a virtual unknown. Would that mean Appendix:Glossary#rare could be applied somehow here? --Geographyinitiative (talk) 12:00, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Distinction between Taiwan ROC and China PRC Lienchiang[edit]

In July 1956, the Chiang Kai-shek government of the ROC transferred Tungyin (Dongyin) and Juguang (the White Dogs) to Lienchiang County. In contrast, in its present-day claims on Lienchiang County of Taiwan (ROC), China PRC does not see Lienchiang County, ROC as analogous to any administrative unit- they see the different islands as parts of different counties; for that matter Kinmen county, Taiwan (ROC) is also not viewed as a PRC administrative unit- that would be split up between different counties too in their view. The question arises: can there be any cites for Lienchiang, Taiwan (ROC) before 1949? I would confine the scope of such pre-1949 citations to uses/mentions of 'Lienchiang' that directly discuss Matsu (Nankan/Nangan), Pei-kan (Beigan) or Tungyin (Dongyin). Anything else would be more appropriate for the Lienchiang PRC section. However, I am adding a note that the pre-1949 usages under Lienchiang PRC include a significant part of today's Lienchiang ROC. Note that Tungyin was apparently disputed between different counties in 1945. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 14:55, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
