Plural[edit]

The plural of attorney general is attorneys general.  The plural of mother-in-law is mothers-in-law.

With that in mind, what is the plural of New Year's Eve'?  Would the plural be New Years' Eve or New Year's Eves?

P. S.  I feel like it would be the latter.  07:54, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

P. P. S.  Yeah, thinking about it more, I'm almost certain that it's the latter.  Unlike in the other examples, Eve is not an adjective describing a type of New Year, it's a noun possessed by the New Year.  08:04, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Originally, days were counted from sunset to sunset, so New Year's Eve was actually part of New Year's Day. It's definitely no more an adjective than tail in "cat's tail". Chuck Entz (talk) 08:54, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
