Hello. I inserted the ˈ mark in the pronunciation for this word as I think I stop after the k sound and before the tr sound. If you understand IPA and phonology more than I do, I encourage you to write me and explain. (I always want to do things right) and of course, fix the pronunciation. etymology: actoress = actor + ess?[edit]

The etymology section assumes actress = actor + ess? while duchesse would come from Old French duchesse rather than duke + ess.

Why would actress = actor + ess rather than coming from Norman/French/Dutch actrice coming from Latin āctrīx.

Does this mean the masculine word is pure latin while its female variation would be specifically originated n the Anglosphere?
