Rfv-sense "(Yorkshire) Without." Has a cite (and an etymology deriving it from but), but an IP removed it in diff, saying "Removed the mistaken inclusion of "baht" as a Yorkshire dialect word meaning "without." The actual dialect word meaning "without" is "bar" (pronounced "bah"). The incorrect addition of a t is based on a misunderstanding of the use of the word in a popular Yorkshire comic song, where it is followed by the contraction "t'at" (short for "thy hat")."

The English Dialect Dictionary has several instances of the string baht scattered throughout its entries on other words, some of which are uses in works which we could cite ("Another chap coom up an' ah wor led agean me mind, baht t'choice o' saying a word, inta a cab donn'd up e blue papers, Toddles Comic Alm. (1875) 9"), but I don't have time yet to determine which are this sense, which if any simply mean but (a sense we lack), and which are other things (e.g. it's also a Yorkshire form of bout, as of a fight or illness). - -sche (discuss) 00:52, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've cited the main sense but while searching I encountered instances of 'baht for 'about' and one mention of an alleged meaning of 'both'. --Overlordnat1 (talk) 01:55, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Passed. The other mentioned senses ("about" and the noun "bout" of sickness or fighting) have not been added yet. - -sche (discuss) 20:52, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever, that's not an RFV issue Zemely Nashka (talk) 06:07, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
