- There has to be a (real or perceived) risk to some action before you can ascribe courage to someone undertaking that action – one wouldn’t say Guy Fieri had the courage to present his cooking show Guy’s Big Bite. Furthermore, the action undertaken needs to have a purpose that is viewed in a positive light, so that the action is considered admirable – one wouldn’t say that a rapist summoned the courage to assault their victims, overcoming their fear of being caught. I feel all three given senses are lacking in one of these respects, as in the parable of the blind men and an elephant. The definition of sense 1 does not involve any risk. The “fear” of sense 2 implies a perceived risk but does not imply a positive purpose. Finally, the challenged sense lacks both aspects. A person imprisoned for attempted murder may maintain their will and intent to murder the target of their hatred despite the frustration of having a life sentence, but this will not be considered courageous. --Lambiam 11:03, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

Marathi धाड़सी?[edit]
@AryamanA: There is a Marathi translation in the table with a nuqta - धाड़सी, not handled by the transliteration module, most likely wrong - wrong language and part of speech?
