The standard and simplistic formula is 1 dog year = 7 "human" years. I've found references to other formulas that count the first two years of a dog's life as 20 or 21 years, adding 4 or 5 years repectively for each year after that. This definition is a compromise. Anyways there are different methods to calculate even life expectancy. Davilla 19:35, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- I had utilized the 1:7 ratio for dogs without changing for the first two years; I recently heard a cat might live 9 cat years in the first two human years and 7 for each human year thereafter. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 21:02, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
