Obsolete?[edit]

Webster 1913 calls this word obsolete, and for the most part a Google Books search only finds very old poetry (Spenser and the like). Leasnam just removed the obsolete gloss, having found a recent usage, but I think that usage is probably a rare anomaly. Equinox 18:14, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

The OED labels this term as "archaic or obsolete." In the quotation added by Leasnam (really from 1922, not 2013), Eddison is writing fantasy and clearly using olde-tymey language for narrative effect. The entry has now been changed to split the difference, with an archaic label. -- · (talk) 18:58, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
