Obsolete?[edit]

Webster 1913 calls this word obsolete, and for the most part a Google Books search only finds very old poetry (Spenser and the like). Leasnam just removed the obsolete gloss, having found a recent usage, but I think that usage is probably a rare anomaly. Equinox 18:14, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The OED labels this term as "archaic or obsolete." In the quotation added by Leasnam (really from 1922, not 2013), Eddison is writing fantasy and clearly using olde-tymey language for narrative effect. The entry has now been changed to split the difference, with an archaic label. -- · (talk) 18:58, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
